A Chinese man has died after playing an online game for three days without a break. The Beijing Times reports that the unnamed 30 year-old had barely slept or eaten during his mammoth session. He collapsed while playing at an internet cafe on the outskirts of the city and was rushed to a nearby clinic, where he died after failing to regain consciousness. It later came to light that the man had spent the equivalent of £928 on online games last month. It is not known which game he was playing at the time of his unfortunate demise. Online gaming is hugely popular in China, particularly among the country’s young. Measures introduced to curb problems of addiction have met with little success so far, and it is now thought that as many as 450 million Chinese citizens now have internet connections. Sadly, this is not the first time that somebody has died after gaming for too long. In 2005 a Korean man perished after playing online for 50 hours non-stop. A lack of rest and nourishment would seem to be contributing factors in both instances.
I can't imagine what kind of game would get me addicted to it like that. Besides games are for leisure, if one plays like that it would make seem like a full time job, where you need to finish sth before deadline.
i actually play 2-3 days a few times with no sleep and 2-3 meals. Tried a week with minimum sleep as well. =P
