Im just curious does anyone here take like chinese medicine =/ i mean i know its bitter and like nasty tasting, but my parents always make me take it when im like extremely sick so i just want to see if anyone else takes it
i take it....i prefer it to english medicine....cos thats mainly tablets...i cant swallow tablets so i chew em instead or i open them up to get the powder thing then just take it like that..... chinese medicine much better imo
lol since we're all chinese, we love chinese medicine, apparently i think its better, even tho its bitter coz 苦口良藥! the more bitter , the better it is
^ Yup Yup.....you Not Heard Of That Saying Before Meh..?!?!... In My Fam We Dun Really Use Chin Medicine....not Sure Why Actually.... But My Mammi Does Make The Herbal Soups Like 'yeuk Choi Tong' And Stuff.....
i mean what would you rather choose this or this? im pretty sure most chinese would pick the Tea over this Feral Sticky Liquid lol
for one chinese medicine isnt addictive and i havent heard of side effects. only thing is it takes time and loi sing to boil it me thinks im too lazy. but if theres a pill form ill gladly take it
I feel like the Chinese stuff is generally gross tasting but it does (maybe psychologically) work better than American solutions.
Gotta be careful of taking chinese meds though. Some have steroid content in them, so taking them long term might not be very good for health
well all medicines have side effects that are bad for health just that chinese stuff less then englih stuff
I usually just take pills- much faster. Also, my house smells nicer and I don't have to wash bowls or pots! ^^ But sometimes I take the chinese herbal medicine stuff when I'm really sick.
my favorite chinese medicine is gook fa cha. i work in a pharmacy and i can definitely tell u that some chinese medicine is a better alternative than taking eastern european medicine. the side effects r crazy. if you're trying to heal a long term sickness then i would prefer taking chinese medicine. but if u're trying to heal a short term sickness with the quickness like sore throat, fever and etc. then i prefer taking eastern european medicine. but china is trying to combine herbal medicine and eastern european medicine together. that's the future!!
I'm a Nurse and we have a retired professor from a western medical school in mainland China as a friend. He replies that there are many, many good Chinese medicines that have real value. Unfortunately, there are probably an equal number of remedies that are based on legend rather than real results. We do use some Chinese medicines in our family, but very few. Just as we stay away from the tons of phoney "cures" you find on the shelves in most drug store. It's much more important to keep you immune system up to par by eating health, getting a reasonable amount of sleep, DON'T DRINK alcoholic beverages (or extremely little) and, above all - DON'T SMOKE!! Take an asprin a day (or every other day) - ASPRIN, not substitutes!!! You will find that your immune system will be much more healthy - especially your heat functions.
I've had Chinese medicine many times but i still prefer tablets/pills over anything else... I don't like the bitter nasty taste and the aftermath taste of it...YUCK!
im acutally quite the opposite from others. growing up always eating chinese medicine, i've grown accustomed to it, and somehow acquired a taste for it - the bitterness doesn't really bother me anymore. also, maybe i'm just being biased, but i really do think chinese medicine works a lot quicker than the pills, so i take the bitter concoctions so i can get better faster.
i grew up with chinese medicine, not saying that i was ill or sick all the time but whenever i have a pretty bad cough when i was little, my mum always make "gern ton" ginger soup for me to drink, disgusting to drink but its a very good remedy. Other medicine i take is "pei pa goa" when i get a bad sorethroat and cough. "ho yan hor" is a chinese herbal tea which is like a medicine, i drink that when i dont feel well even though its disgusting when i little, but now i just drink it like a tea sometimes ^^
