cuz they expect u to speak chinese, not espanol xD

    ^ agreed!

people go by first impressions so if they see you looking Chinese they expect you to have the chinese accent
i always get a weird look and appraisal as well for sound very English and it being good... so im totally used to it

but then it is normal i guess.. and i have learnt spanish in high school and i wasnt totally 100% good at it hehe

but then when im out w/ some family fds whatsoever, they thought idk chinese (speak/understand well) like my cousins, i was like...jeez i was raised there. all those assumptions lmao

That's why you need to take that to your own advantage.
For example, you go to a Chinese store and ask for something in English/Spanish or whatever...Get the store clerk confused as hell and frustrate her enough to get her manager to come over. Once the manager comes out, you speak back to her in Chinese. It's a flawless tactic to get what you want!!

good that some people could speak a few languages but i think it will be better if we could speak out mother tongue first. this is my big mistake when i have my kids speaking english instead of chinese. so whenever anyone have kids do speak to them different language especially mother tongue.

my Spanish teacher was born and raised in Latin America. she cannot speak her mother language and has thick Spanish accent when she speaks English. i am envious of her awesome Spanish, except it'd be a lot cooler if she can speak all three without an accent. :)
