http://www.1pstart.com/student-arrested-for-suspected-terrorist-activity/ A Chinese student has been arrested in Texas, charged with “Suspected Terrorist Activity”. This student was apprehended after parents discovered that he had used plans of his High School in the creation of a map for an online first person shooter. The authorities were notified after parents learned of the map from their children, who had downloaded it off of the internet. .They arrested him,. Chen said of FBISD police, .and also went to the house to search.. The Lin family consented to the search, and a hammer was found in the boy.s room, which he used to fix his bed, because it wasn.t in good shape, Chen said. He indicated police seized the hammer as a potential weapon. While no charges have been filed against the student, he has been removed from Clements High School and will not be allowed to graduate with his former classmates. I don’t know what to say. For most of us who have ever designed a 3d environment, using familiar surroundings is very commonplace. With no sinister motive, designers use plans for all sorts of different areas to add variety to their designs. I don’t understand the punishment given to this student, who has been cleared of any premonitions for violence. He has been convicted of no crime but then the school expels him? I guess “innocent until proven guilty” has no merit with the school board. Even with the authorities finding no evidence of gaming-related causes for the Virginia Tech shootings… It seems that we, as gamers, still are targeted as warped killers. [source: Fort Bend Now] pfff how lame...
this is ghey. its not like u go around shooting teenagers in counterstrike... he might have made this map as like a fantasy thing where terrorists invade the school and the counter-terrorists haveta kill them. something like this is absolutely harmless imo. lol and to be honest, it seems like he did a great job making the map... it actually looks like it would be super fun to play.
Well, we should be grateful that there isn't a game for the resident evil film (which took place in Toronto, of ALL places =_=b) And silent hill isn't a real place. Perhaps they would want to apprehend the Pixar team for using the Bay Area as their sketch for the city in The Incredibles... UFO activities? Superhero fights?
hmmm okay okay there gotta be a movie ......i wonder what about ID4 haha thats aliens and blowing up places
this is a tricky subject. for most (i'd think) video games are harmless. but for others, it can really have a negative psychotic influence.
stupid... Americas just on some paranoia phase cause of all the school shootings... maybe they should?! -shrug
well its not like a one time thing it is quite messed up since so many ppl have been injured and such due to these shootings
what! I missed this news. I can't believe his parents and the school. Then again its the school way of showing how they won't allow something like virgina tech to happen. what his family thinking?
Wow. WTF?! This is just plain bull, I mean I would do something about it.. cause that's the type of stuff that lets me down.-censored
Well, playing the hard-a$$ card won't get them anywhere (in preventing school shootings), it will only cause grievence (possibly lead to another school shooting)... It's retarded to do things without solid proof.
they are really getting nuts there in the US about these things......but the virginia tech was really a shocking event... difficult to stay normal in under these circumstances...
