79-year-old veteran actor Chung King-fai (鍾景輝) has been diagnosed with first stage colon cancer. Fortunately, the cancer was caught in time, and King Sir immediately started treatment. He has been discharged and is resting at home. King Sir, a regular in the sitcom Come Home Love: Dinner at 8 <愛·回家之八時入席>, has temporarily left the show. Producer Lo Chun-ngok (羅鎮岳) told the Hong Kong media, “King Sir is on sick leave right now. For a safe and quiet recovery, they wanted to keep it as low profile as possible before it gets revealed to the public. He hasn’t been feeling well in a while, and they discovered [the cancer] after getting a hospital checkup. He immediately underwent surgery. We can change the script to accommodate him. We want King Sir to rest well.” Producer Lo said the crew will be ready at any time to welcome King Sir back into the cast. “[His absence] hasn’t affected the script too much,” said Lo. “It’s just that we have one less good actor to use. Right now we’ve decided to hold onto his scenes, and say that his character (Koo Sir) went to Mainland China for a vacation.” Creds: Oriental Daily
Get well soon. One of my favourite elder actors along with Tiger Considering they should be filming December episodes right about now, I wonder if they're extending the sitcom with King Sir on leave + Theresa leaving.
