    Hey guys, I have recently noticed that every time I printed something out from my printer, there is ink on the edges of the paper and ink stains on the margins of the page ... I think it is time for me to clean my printer but I don't know how. Any tips? :eat:

    there should be cleaning cartridges available...

    but given the prices of ink and cleaning stuff.. its cheaper to buy a new printer!

    there is a cleaning thing on my printer's program but after using them, I don't think they work.

    @reno: I totally want to buy a new printer (b/c my current one is not Vista compatible dang it!) but I just bought some black ink and I have another color ink cartridge that isn't returnable.

    @Phil: I'll try doing it manually, but I'm always afraid that I'll break something

    I'm going to look into cleaning cartridges ...

  5. its quite hard to break something without excessive force.... so just be gentle.... lol

    Did you unplug it when you not using the Printer? You didn't know about the Clean Nozzle Head?

    @D34thN0t3 thanks for the suggestion!

    @AkkiOnimusha, xpvista lol I try to be gentle with my electronics. I try not to go inside printers because I don't know how they go back together if I have to take it apart. I think I got ink on the rollers that feed the paper through the printer. My printer is a DELL J740.

    @Aznmask No, my printer is always plugged in. I always use it no, so there is no point to unplug it. Clean Nozzle Head?

    Check the programs or the manual for some self-cleaning programs

    - Printers don't have to be Vista compatible. More often than not, that's just a cheap marketing gimmick.

    - The stains on the paper might be caused by leaking/leaked ink. Open it up and wipe down the inside with a clean napkin. Then open up printer properties in windows and there should be some automated printer head and nozzle cleaning, this helps clean up the image/text that's being printed.
