My wife thinks that TVB does not have enough older popular mature stars to play mother so they get the younger ones to do so.
wtf ! Just watched first two episodes and they are total trash, such a pity cause I really like the cast.
Maybe some in the audience has patience, but most viewership polls seem to indicate the opposite. Television audiences, HK and abroad, have limited tolerance for shows that take too long to develop character. While that may work for the longer running half hour 300 episodes series, the limited 20-30 episode stories have to grip an audience immediately or risk losing them. The ideal is to captivate and hook them with one episode; less than ideal but workable is to hook them by the second episode. But if it takes longer than that, then most of the audience has left and it would be almost impossible to lure them back. Of course, that's a generality and as generalities go, there are always exceptions, though they're few and far between. Having said that, using Eliza in a high profile role, immediately after she had such a dramatic character end in another series, seems to indicate that TVB is putting their weight behind her and she's their next up and coming. She certainly is telegenic, but her facial structure (chubby cheeks) is extremely vulnerable in terms of weight gain; a few added pounds and she'll look like crap. That is, IMHO, she wouldn't tolerate marginal weight as well as some other starlets, who look more like they're starving. At any rate, time will tell if she makes it for any duration.
yes, be gone with chubby cheek eliza. seriously, even if i'm not being mean to her, i can't call her pretty. she's not ugly, that i give her, but certainly not main lead material by looks. sorry to be "superficial", but that's how things go in shows/movies IMO, the main lead HAS to attract the viewer one way or another, however, she does not attract me at all, not even in tank-top-pressing-boobs-in-front-of-her-and-marching-with-a-tree-log-on-her-shoulders.
maybe I had low expectations at first but I don't think its that bad so far...I like watching Nancy's mom and bro (chu mimi & so gay) -lol
eliza def isnt hot....shes cute at most....but i never thought about the vulnerable to weight gain and she might look like chu mimi in a few years
She definitely isn't hot; she's more of the cute type. I just love her sweet smile + her eyes when she smiles. That's how she attracts me. Definitely not the hot type like Kate Tsui as some of you guys describe her. On a side note, she did play the young version of Mimi in Inbound Troubles. Mimi Jeh + So Gay is hilarious. Especially when they both exchange "lay doh chee sin gah! (you're crazy)" ~~
