Led by Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) and Teresa Mo (毛舜筠), the new TVB sitcom Come Home Love: Dinner at 8 <愛．回家之八時入席> is off to a fantastic start. The show, which premiered on April 4, 2016, achieved an average of 29 rating points on Monday, breaking an eight-year record. On Tuesday, Dinner at 8’s main cast including Wayne Lai, Teresa Mo, Power Chan (陳國邦), Angela Tong (湯盈盈), and Florence Kwok (郭少芸) attended an event to celebrate the show’s premiere ratings. They announced that the first episode averaged 29 points and peaked at 30 points, with approximately 1.93 million viewers tuning in. Teresa said she was pleasantly surprised about the high ratings. “Ratings were never in the back of my mind so I had no expectations. This is a huge encouragement. I guess the viewers were really looking forward to us collaborating again after so many years!” In custom fashion, reporters asked Teresa if the cast would celebrate the ratings by attending events in only their swimsuits. Teresa immediately said, “Wayne said he would. He’s keeping fit right now. As for me… I am known for being too skinny.” Wayne shook his head, “What? No, that is not what you’re known for.” Taken aback by Wayne’s response, Teresa exclaimed, “Look how lecherous he is!” Wayne said, “I meant to say you’re known for your body!” Teresa laughed and said, “Don’t say it like you know me so well! I’m going to complain to Mrs. Lai!” Power, on the other hand, said he was in shock when he was told of the ratings. “I wasn’t expecting this at all!” As Dinner at 8 would be inviting many celebrity guest stars to the show, Power was asked if he would ask his wife, actress Mimi Lo (羅敏莊) to join the cast. Power said, “Not at the moment. My wife needs to take care of our daughter. She’s her play group teacher, her mother, and her babysitter.” He added that Mimi is also busy with other MC jobs. In related news, Dinner at 8’s predecessor Come Home Love <愛．回家>, which aired its finale on April 1, achieved an average rating of 23 points and a peak of 25 points, reaching 1.49 million viewers.
