alright yall.. I am in desperate need of a new graphics card... any good recommendations? I'm thinking about a Geforce 8800... are there better ones out there? I'm not too familiar with ATi... also, I'm looking at a price range of 0- $260... =/
ATI HD 3870 i think.. that should be in the price range.. right now im using 2600xt from ATI, not bad for gaming.. read a review.. XFX 8800GT XXX won the vs againist sapphire HD 3870..
well.. if your getting an 8800gt.. might as well pay extra for XFX 8800GT XXX? im not really paying high for video cards.. the one i have which is a Diamond 2600xt 512mb paid $140 waiting for the $40 rebate toc ome back whcih will be $100...
http://www.tomshardware.com/2008/01/03/the_best_gaming_graphics/page2.html i use that site as my bible for tech stuff. for $260 its close to 8800GT's 512 mb for 280 after 20 dollar rebates from evga, mwave.com so you should consider that since 8800GT's kick HD3850 ass right now.
yea true.. but most of the ati stuff can be changed.. if you read magazine for HK like ezone, sometime they tell you how to change an ati card like 2600xt to something else higher.. since ati is using the same stuff on less expensive models just software locks
so i guess I could go with the 8800.. although I dunno what would be the best price for it... and which once to get... evga, or xfx or pny.. I have no clue whats the difference with those.. nowdirect.com has the evga version for $267.04 with tax and everything included... would that be worth it?
Go for the normal 8800GT from XFX. You can EASILY overclock it to XXX Standard. Beside of this u will save some money which u can spend on other stuff
2.0 is the new standard, has more bandwidth and such, doubt at the moment you will notice any difference and thats if your motherboard even supports 2.0 I would say the 8800GT or 8800GTS 512 are the best value for performance cards
Make sure u have a power supply that can handle it. As for manufacturers, EVGA i know has a 90 step-up program, that u pay difference for better card or if they come out with something new that is same price u can switch to it provided u pay shipping. I think BFG is always overclocked cards. Make note that some cards are overclocked by manufacturer and u can do the same if you buy the cheaper card like EVGA the SSC editions or watever. THose are just the regular edition overclocked by EVGA themselves. You can usually find some software to do that for you though. As for prices i would say 8800GT regular should be less than $300. But its up to you to check out individual cards.
yea that's the thing.. I think need a new power supply too if I'm gonna get it.. so are there any brands or models I should look out for? 400w should be enough righ??
ya don want to skim on the psu. factor in all the other items in the box are gona be pullin power too. just gettin the right amount needed, not a good idea.
not sure about the 8800gt but my uncle had a 8600gts shipped from vancouver a week ago... i think it was for 150?
