Con Edison Monopolizing?

    Since Con Edison is like th main power supplier, dont you think they can control the price of power to there liking?

    Absolutely not cause they're regulated like a bitch by the government. So they can't do anything without regulatory comission's oversight.

    ConEd also supplies power to parts of NJ and PA. Who remembers the blackout a few years ago?

    But yes, they are a regulated monopoly.

    Yea. So they are regulated. So the government have some sort of control over Con Edison and the rates for power. Does anyone think that Con Edison should be owned by the government?

    Well, would you want alot of hassle over switching over to different electric companies?

    Sometimes, a monopoly is a good thing, makes things more simple. Now, that is only good when the price they selling are not too high.

    @qpower> the whole point of taking out competitors to obtain monopoly is to maximize profit via deregulated pricing. Sooner or later it will skyrocket and the customers (who originally think it's such a good idea with Con Edison) are screwed.
