    Do you know that is

this isn't when one person is clinking their glass to get peoples attention for a toast

but have you been to a wedding when one person starts a chain reaction, that the whole room is filled with people clicking their glasses

do you know what that is?

I've been to many weddings and I've been trying to figure out where did this tradition come from

Going to Chinese weddings in Canada, people do it
Going to Chinese wedding in HK, they dont do it
Going to Vietnamese weddings in USA, they dont do it
Going to Chinese weddings in the USA they do it
Going to a caucasian wedding on the USA, they do not do it

is this something made up by Asian Americans?
wait no, is this something made up my Chinese Americans?

for those who dont know what i'm talking about
    at a wedding banquet,
a chain reaction can be started by anyone, where they start clinking their
to end the noise, the bride and groom have to stop what they are doing, get up in front of everyone, and KISS!

They do that in caucasian weddings in USA. I went to several and all of them do in fact do it, even in movies and TV series.

Here is what I heard about the tradition.

Its a Greek tradition, one time Zeus was his usual self and trying to seduce a woman. He finally succeed and was having fun with her when Hera started to look for him. In the spur of the moment he turned the woman in a wine glass and pretend to be drinking when Hera found him. Hera knew it was a woman and ask Zeus to give her the cup since it was so beautiful. She put the cup in her bedroom and Zeus felt sorry for the woman. So every time he goes to the bedroom he would tap the wineglass as a sign of affection/kiss to the woman.

yup, been to those weddings, it's like a chant, when they are playing wedding games (feeding eachother cherries and shit like that) its like a "whoot whoot" type of thing, its fun to do it lols.

Oh yea my parents hate this practice outside of weddings though said this shit was for the bums to perform when they go begging for money.
