Though father and daughter are believed to have a cordial relationship, the 27-year-old is not in constant contact with him. Cyndi lived with her mother after her parents divorced while she was in primary school. Taiwanese media reported that Mr Wang Jihui could be a key witness in a case involving the legal fraternity. It was said that Wang was the middleman for a jeweller friend to attain legal consultancy certification for free at a law institute, but the director of the institute later asked for a Guan Yin portrait donation from the jeweller. The director Hong Kunyang is now facing charges that include fraud and forgery of documents, and is currently out on bail. According to the defendant, the alleged sum would have gone into a Guan Yin foundation he started, denying that it is a scam. However, the prosecution found that the foundation in question is not registered or actually being run. They are investigating if there are other victims. As Hong and Wang are known to be friends, there is a chance the latter will be called to the stand. On her father's possible involvement in the case, Cyndi, known for her sweet looks and vocals, said, "I don't know the details of this incident, but I'm sure my dad has it under control."
