Decrease in the Number of Awards @ RTHK's Award Ceremony

RTHK and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charity Trust’s ‘29th Annual Gold Songs Award Ceremony’ will be held on the 27th of January. There will be some changes in the different awards, including ‘Country’s Favourite Singer’ and ‘Most Successful Newcomer’ awards. Organiser, Chow Kwok Fung commented, “In the past years, these awards would be separated into 3 categories- male, female and group and in these categories, a gold, silver and bronze award will be given out. So in total, 9 awards would be given out. But this year, only 3 awards will be given out and the recipients are chosen from all the singers. Also, because there are not much newcomers this year, the number awards for newcomers have also decreased.”

Chow Kwok Fung then revealed that for the female singers, Janice Wei, Twins and Joey Yung have all got 5 songs nominated and that all 5 of Janice’s songs are continuing to do well on the charts. Miriam Yeung, on the other hand, is behind with only 3-4 songs being nominated. As for the males, Andy Lau, Hacken Lee and Justin Lo all have 4 songs nominated.
