I've bought a couple of diamonds so far. You'll always hear the same thing about the 4C's. You have to decide how much you want to spend.. then it can help you narrow your search. Do you want white or yellow diamond. What type of cut do you want (I like ideal cut). VS1 or VS2 are good for saving money since it's difficult for the eye to see the flaws. I typically stay out of the S. Fluorescence keep it light since the strong fluorescence seem darker in direct sunlight. I learned that the hard way. Cut is important since it helps determine the amount of light that is radiated back. All I really can say is read up on it. There's a lot of sites talking about diamonds. If it's for a proposal, then I would recommend not to get the ring itself unless you know what she wants.. Women are very picky about settings.
