Let's see how Yan responds if he does...

But goddam he does have a point about Yan taking 10 years to drop 16 bars, and he's talking about something about trying help intro hip hop into the culture or something like that.

MC yan helped reviving LMF last december, imo LMF is not the same without DJ tommy and Davy.

Rapping in Cantonese doesn't work for me. Maybe it's just me..I dunno..,..I onli understood about 15% of the lyric and it doesn't seem to rhyme. I think these guys are good.

    In big lines ..

    - MC Yan revived LMF in december, makes some bold comments in a video about pushing the hip hop culture in HK to a new lvl in a video and also released a new single (first in 10 years).

    - Some dude thinks LMF mc Yan is being full of himself and hence the diss

    - Arnho disses the diss

    - whats next?

While the 16 bars in 10 years is a good line, I'm not sure it's true. Sure, MC Yan doesn't have a lot solo tracks, but he does have them. I can think of 3, 4 or so just off the top of my head. He also drops a lot of guest verses and collabs, but I guess that's neither here nor there.

Dirty R also used to be a group/duo with Arho Sunny (EDIT: err...maybe not, but he was featured on one of Sunny's songs), but honestly I think both of those guys are kinda "meh." No where near the level of sanGfan or MastaMic. Dirty R runs some clothing shop or something now and hosts amateur freestyle battles, I pretty much forgot the guy rapped until he released this on youtube.

Anyways, I kinda feel like this when guys take jabs at Jay-Z, just hoping Hov will mention him in his next song.

I've heard of MC Yan before; but, not the other guy. I haven't listened to HK rap lately. The ones I have heard are: LMF, MC Hot Dog, MC Yan, Jin, and 24 Herbs.

exactly. i only have heard of LMF as legitimate rap. as a core, there will be good ones and supportive cast ones, but still.

the diss was not a diss, it was just a parody to get things going. LOL

they aren't gang bangers like tupac, and biggie. these fools don't tattoo themselves or strap heat, yet they constantly wont too raap heep hoop. its kinda funny but oh well.

lol 15%...anyway, these are diss tracks. rnb is about as similar as rock songs.

tupac and biggie were not really bangers...

but regardless, there arent that many canto rappers who are gangsters. mainly because triads look down on black culture and people. the kids these days would talk like blacks too each other, but NEVER in front of a dai lo.

he is pretty much the only one ive found who is a gangster rapper in cantonese.

honestly, i may get shit for this, but if anyone is wack it is Jin. i mean he is getting better but....

    seriously?

even among overseas Chinese Jin was never that hard.

    http://www.myspace.com/gkay

the great thing about the situation is the HK rappers are trying hard to make hip hop grow, meanwhile overseas HKers who are more experience with the rap game thinks they are wack as hellllll.

i predict once this grows, there are going to be a lot of disses and wars between them. my money is on overseas HKers. if they can manage to rap in canto like they can in english, it is probably over.

Really? I can't even imagine someone thinking KZ (really, sanGfan in general) or MastaMic is whack. I'd be more inclined to think that G Kay guy was whack. I don't think I can take him seriously with him dropping the n-word, just sounds like he's trying too hard.

If we take Jin as an example as an overseas Canto-rapper, the problem with them is that they lack vocabulary and a lot of lazy sounds. Yeah, he has improved, but he's been living in HK for a while now. I think anyone's Canto would improve if they lived in HK for a period.

And you guys are forgetting another Canto-rap scene - Mainland. Back in '08, there was an Iron Mic competition, HK vs. Guangzhou. Guangzhou easily won.

well i suppose it depends on taste.

    ? LOL no...

see, if HK rap wasnt already so....soft. i wouldnt think GKay is so great. as with most things, there needs to be balance. and if Jin is going to be making songs on instant noodles, i want there to be canto rappers talking about taking heads off.

personally, i dont like how overseas Chinese approach HK. they go there kowtowing, begging to be accepted.

why? Edison is a better rapper than most of the HK rappers already. he should have made a diss track for all of them.

why is hk rap weak? because it is so young. there isnt enough beef. being pushed to improve is happening so slowly because they are still looking for pioneers!

id like to see a wave of overseas hk rappers who try to murder every hk rapper. this way you get serious competition. either you improve and show you can actually rap. or you give the entire hk rap game to the better group.

lets face it, Edison could rep vancouver, MC Yan could rep scarbz. some of the biggest names in hk rap could be counted as overseas. it would definitely shake things up.

more realistically, get guangzhou to do it. hk rap needs to face serious threat from something.
