So earlier this evening, I wrote an email intended for my coworker:

"So stebo & rod were both @ my desk just now. Stebo was waving around his toothbrush with a wad of toothpaste on it. That totally grossed me out n so made me wanna spit @ it. Sometimes, I don’t understand why they insist on having discussions with each other right next to my cube. Like, I know I'm d shiznit, but still… I don’t want them around. =P what time u outta here today?"

stebo is my boss, rod is his boss...

I accidently sent this to my boss instead of my coworker. My boss read it, and he replied back.

How would you deal with this situation???

either use bart's line ' i didnt do it'
    or say, 'it wasn't me'
or say, 'someone hacked my email account and tried to frame me!'

lol...wow, I'd be pretty stressed out if that happened to me.

But what was your boss's response?

    My boss replied with:

"Whoops. Think you meant this for someone else.

    Sorry about the toothbrush. ;)"

I replied back with, "Sorry about that. The toothbrush really scared me."

Really, it sucks to be me today.

I assume this company you're working for should have an email policy. If not, then the probably have unofficial email monitoring practices. Check to see if there is a policy, as in some cases, emails sent from companies are monitored and archived.

How would that help her solve the problem? lol sorry, I'm totally clueless about that whole company e-mail policy thing.

Anyway shy, it seems as if both you and your boss took it pretty good. He doesn't sound pissed. I think you should be alright. Don't worry!

The policy will outline what penalties are for certain email uses. In some cases, so called "gossiping" can have penalties attached to them. As in non business purposes for email and what not. Essentially just for future to note that they may be monitoring your email.

I didn't send out the e-mail whilst at work. I did it on my laptop while I was on break, away from work. So, fortunately for me, no policy applied there. But still, even if he doesn't fire me, I know he's gonna hate me for the rest of his life. :(

Yeah, I guess he was pretty good-natured about it. No use in freaking out about it now. Just needed some place to vent out my frustration...

Next time I'll be more careful & double check before sending out my e-mails. -blush I've done worse things before..

nothing is wrong with complaining...as long as you find it just. if something disturbs you, confront them

Ahahahaha wow, my friend's sister just got fired for doing this exact same thing! But she doesn't care because she said she hates her boss anyways and was already planning to quite her job.

I totally agree with lionheart. There's nothing wrong with complaining about someone/something that bothers you in the workplace. Work is supposed to be enjoyable, not annoying or dreadful. It's especially hard to work at a place where you don't get along with your boss -_-2

I absolutely detest my boss. I've had a lot of luck with my previous boss, but I've recently changed departments. My boss really sucks because he's new to the company. The place at which he used to work at has a completely different culture, so he's really stuck up. & he finds pleasure in the pains that people go through... so if he went through something bad, he'd want the people he works with to go through it 10x worse. I hate him so much.

Every time he talks to me, I picture myself sticking a knife through his head. He always licks his lips when he's talking & it gets really ANNOYING and NASTY! It doesn't help that he has really bad breath. On my evaluation, he wrote that I need to improve on my communication skills. When I asked him to justify it, he gave me some BS response like, "I don't think you are very suitable for this job because you are too young (aka inexperienced) & you don't talk much. When doing business, even if you don't have anything important to say, you should still talk... because talking is necessary when interacting with customers." So he has a problem with my age & personality. I think that if he didn't waste so much time brown-nosing & BSing with other people, he would get out of work a lot earlier.

Aint that age discrimination, take him down, sue his ass!!!

From the sound of his responce he took it on the chin and gave back some humour so it dont sound too bad. Plus your email wasnt that bad in the first place, all you said is you dont like them chatting around your desk. Not like you made some point blank statement like he a sh*t faced stinky b*stard or sumthing.
Id say you had a close one, count yourself lucky :p
