Phd is Doctor in philosophy. Does anyone think that having a PhD is important for his/her future? Why is it important or unimportant to you? For me, it's pretty much unimportant because I'm not planning to become anything major (i.e. doctor). I also think it's kinda pointless in the real world. You go through all of that schooling in order to get it & it doesn't really even matter if you're smart enough... I'd rather just get my Masters and then I'm outta there.
I'm currently working, and my employer could care less if I have a phD or not. I would like to get one just to say that was something I accomplished. But unless I want to devote my time to research, a phD won't be much help.
Having a PhD is a nuisance in my field. I'm already working towards my masters, and getting a PhD is just a waste of time. I'd rather spend the time getting other professional designations.
I wanted a PhD once upon a time... grew up some... said a masters will do... trying to finish my bachlors now and looking for other things in life. I'll do a masters if my future job will pay the tuition for it.
