well if u know basic programming (with any language... dont' need to be specific)
im sure u can do it EASILY within a month (well to the point that u can do most stuff, as always, theres all those lil hacks/tricks that u only know from experience)

in general, its more abt the style/type of programming
javas very object oriented, same with c++
but java's a good start to lead to c++

as long as u can do pseudocode for ur problems
implementing it in any language shouldn't be too much of a problem, since its all just syntax issues
i can try to help if i got time =)

additional advice would be, use some ide
    makes life much easier
but then it takes time to learn them too ><

for java, i'd probably say eclipse (since its free hehehe) as an ide
alternatively could use netbeans or visual studio

they're good in that they have all the help files and syntax available

  9. whats ide and whats eclipse >_<

IDE is a programming enviroment. Eclipse is an example of an IDE. It just a place/program you can use to program and compile code with.

I did some programming in the past, but with the upcoming 3rd world ... like India. It is just not worthwhile continuing. For one "Western" programmer, they can get a dozen in India. Programmers with much more experience-er -ann -huh?

    so true
its more abt, u gotta be more than just a programmer
cos essentially any1 can be a programmer.... all programmers actually do is just implement a given pseudocode or solution/algorithm
need to be able to do something else apart from that...

dann, hope u can easily learn ur java =)

I've got some basic knowledge of C, Java, and PHP but it's not my exact field of study.

I'm pretty crazy with IOS if that counts as "programming" :p
