Do you ever purge your emails or your phone contacts

I mass email about twice a year about my life, but then I wonder if people want my emails.

I also learned that one of my (best friends as a child, but then I moved away) was getting annoyed with me on facebook to the point she defriended me and got mad when I tried to re-add her to my list. She was defriended me becuase I tried to find other elementry school classmates through her friend's list and accidently tried to add someone I didn't know (it was an honest mistake).

Anyways it made me start thinking about my mass emails and now about mass phone text's i get from people about stuff that doesn't relate to me (this bothers me because I pay per incoming and outcoming text).

    Anyways
So I am thinking about going through my entire email contact list and phone list to erase every person whom I will never contact again. I use to keep them because it's a good networking tool. And often you can try to get back in contact with someone and 30% of the time it actually works

I dunno, but after getting a nasty note from this person who i use to value as a friend so much. I guess maybe i'm feel a little upset

I rarely purge my msn or email, but phone, I tihnk I only purge it once and that was yesterday, was scrolling through my contact and realise some I don't even contact them anymore or have any reason to contact them so I just delete them off my list.

I deleted everyone on my email account that I don't usually talk to. But If I ever need to get in contact with them, I know my friends will have their emails that I erased cause they speak to them more often then I do and go out with them. So I don't really lose contact with them forever. But their there whenever I need to contact them.

purge = organized, no wonder ppl used so much time finding old email

facebook, thats odd, ppl i don't know, i added them, they accept, no one every declined.

email contacts, this is how i do it, most ppl i email to are always in my mind, so no need to keep contacts, if i dont' remember them, then those are ppl i rarely talk to or keep in touch...i actually hate keep in touch, i live in my own world. cuz ppl email, you reply otherwise they feel you are rude, best i don't keep converstation going, then they won't even start

I do delete the emails and phone contacts when I don't get a reply from perhaps a mass mailing to wish them happy holidays. It's common courtesy to respond regardless. I only keep those that are "good" network type for career purpose. Friends wise, communication has to go both way ... not a one way street.

i usually delete the phone and email contacts when there's no sign of them or i don't know them that well.In facebook, it's the same,i don't accept friend request just for increasing my friend list(between you will get lots of 'spam' requests),so if i'm sure i don't know the person,i won't add.
    Maybe you should delete them

Maybe I should start considering purge the contacts from my old cell to the new ones. It's a waste of time if I put them in my new cell...when they don't even bother to contact me.

Why would you ever "mass email" everyone on your email list about your life? It doesn't make sense. The only "mass emails" I get are advertisements, whether they're from companies promoting a sale or a friend trying to get everyone to do a survey or something. But never anything personal about a certain friend/individual. If I ever did receive one of these emails, I'd probably delete it, seeing how I don't really know them.

I would only ever consider mass emailing to those that I keep in contact with and are close friends with. It's not only awkward to those that you don't talk to, but they probably don't want anything to do with you (no offense) or your emails/sms', since you don't really know/talk to them.

No need to purge, because it's a waste of time. My email list is huge (gmail automatically saves all addresses of the emails I receive/send), it would take a longass while to completely "purge" everyone that I don't know/talk to. If you really have to mass email, just pick the handful that you talk to or know.

P.S. no offense, but what a douchebag of a friend you have there. If he/she was able to defriend you for something seemingly small like that, he/she probably doesn't consider you a friend anymore. Then again, it is awkward adding people you don't know.

I sent out and recieve mass emails every so often. Maybe when I get a new job, then I use that as a starting ground to update people on my life. I love getting those life updates from friends that come around during christmas. Like newsletters of how their familys are growing and their lives are developing, especially from friends that I've moved away from (people I still care about, but can't see regularily like i use to).

Yea she was a long lost friend. I like that facebook helps you find friends that you've lost contact with. THrough it, i've gotten close again with friends I hadn't talked to in years, and I was hopeing to do so with her as well since we were such good childhood friends. But I guess friendships DO have a life span and some people dont care about the past.

Same here. There's just so much one can try. If they are not willing to make the effort, then out they go. :punk:
