Well honestly, i hate to admit it... sometimes i do!... Not ALL the time though. Depending on the bad news or level of misfortune there is. If it's something major, of course i feel really sorry for the person but if it's something not so serious, sometimes i feel.... 'happy'? It's not that i am an evil person. I really do feel bad.. but at the same time, it's like there's this little devil inside of me gleefully commenting on how great that is when i hear a bad news. It's just like for example u see a woman slipping off the floor and u feel like chuckling to urself but trying to maintain a straight face instead...-emb
Well i wasn't askin if it was normal... i am askin if YOU do feel it.. and if so, maybe share ur experiences here.. eg. wat kinda misfortune/whom it happened to... etc
lol the word for this is "shadenfreude" and everyone feels it. You could be the pope, but if you saw someone fall off their bike and into a puddle of mud, you would probably still get a little kick out of it.
Depending on the severity of it, something like 'I got my head stuck in a revolving door' you can laugh about. But I would never be happy for death or harm on anyone.
OK what if it's like someone u know? Maybe ur friend or something. Let's say u haf this lousy job and ur friend A has always had this fabulous career and then one day A says to u he got fired by his boss. Would u feel the slightest tinge of happiness? Or u are single and lonely and ur friend B has this great hot boyfriend/girlfriend and then B tells u he/she broke up. Would u feel happy? (secretly of course)
Hmm i don't think u guys are even sharing any 'experiences' ... Maybe to make it more interesting, pls tell us ur scenarios... what happened and whom it happened to , etc.
true said... something like slip on a banana peel... or gettin hit buy a truck with ipod headphones on.... you know minor stuff... -lol
Sure, ehm, I'll quote something I'd posted in another thread: Yeah, we were feeling happy for that bf he's finally got ridden of that pain in the ass. -lol But actually, I never laugh at other people's misfortune, except if they've pissed me off and I think it's their deserved merit.
My friend and I were fishing out on a boat, and we I hadn't caught anything, but he caught a huge bluefish. I was jealous. Then I caught a dogfish--a small shark, and it bit him while he was helping me unhook it. I laughed.
hahahah damn thas messed up... it's just so much as to laughing at peoples misfortune... but rather their dumbass/jackass acts... -lol
It's all about point and laugh. If you dare to, do it. Otherwise, please giggle in the safety of your own bed and cover. I usually just give the whole thing "the look" and walk on. Really, adding insult to injury is not the most mannered thing to do. We all know we secretly go ecstatic when misfortune befall on someone ELSE, but keeping a straight face will do everyone good...
