Taiwan is moving towards independence, anyway, with changing the post office from 中華 to 台灣. Eventually something's going to happen. >_>
Taiwan is independent. They're just not recognized as such by the rest of the world. If anything though, I would say they are slowly moving back to China. A lot of Taiwanese are now going over to China to work, which does nothing but hurt Taiwan's economy further. I don't know what the best solution to the China/Taiwan problem is, but Taiwan should be careful about making China mad. China is the hottest economic country right now. China could go to other countries and say "If you trade with Taiwan, we won't trade with you" and then Taiwan would really be screwed. Definitely economic sanctions are a much more realistic concern than military action. I think Taiwan's politicians need to stop fussing over stupid things like what name goes on their stamps and start focusing on how to provide more jobs and a more stable economy for their people. It seems all they focus on is who's involved in what scandal.
taiwan is independant. plain and simple. it has an independant economy, independant government, independant military, independant foreign diplomancy, independant citizenship ... then why isn't it consider an independant country? b/c the ppl in taiwan are from china. lol. but, weren't the 'pilgrims' originally from england/europe? now we need a revolutionary war for taiwan to make it official. but that isn't possible ... even though most taiwanese citizens would hate to admit, china do have a tight hold on taiwan's future steps. -sigh-
basically its like Hong Kong, they call it something like One Country, Two Systems[/], they allow Taiwan to act almost independantly but basically call the land China's soverenty I dont really know what to choose, if the people want to be independant, then let them be, but if China really believes Taiwan belongs to China then whats wrong with the current system. I also read in a survey most Taiwanese people are happy with the current system
Hahahaha. Under the One Country, Two systems it could be the first step to reunification with the emphasis on the two systems. Two systems of course means two languages, namely Cantonese and Mandarin. -rockon
I dun think Taiwan should be independent... Taiwan can't survive alone and also taiwan is not so developed yet....Anyways ppl in taiwan are quite prejudice....
Current Chinese government never ended the Civil War between the Communists and the Nationalist. Officially, there is still a state of civil war between the two. If one thinks Taiwan as an independent state then Shaanxi province under Mao and the communists in 1935 were a country then? not so, civil war means there is only one country with two fractions fighting for control!!! Taiwan was never a country to began with, and it never will be a country, ever!
no.. because without china they're screwed over they cant export a single thing china is the one that gives them everything
