Lately I have realised that TVB seems to "promote" alcoholism in a bad way.

In the Ulitmate Crime Fighter, they would always be at "Rocky Bar" drinking, also when Moses was mourning Gigi's death he entered a drinking comp.

In War of In-laws, Bosco and Viven "Athena" were drinking their problems away.

In The Seventh Day, Kevin and his "friends" are always drinking, buying alcohol to take his problems away from Nikki. Also DDMK and 3J drink at Natalie's "SaSa" farewell party, leading "Jessie" to become drunk.

In Kung Fu Dunk, the captain of the basketball team is drinking constantly, 24/7.

Why r they promoting alcoholism, saying its a good way to forget ur problems.

They prob. dnt realise they are promoting it. The thing is with TVB writers is that wen 1 idea is taken, they repeat in other series. They sorta have this unrealistic view on wat pple actually do, these days, pple dnt drink themselves stupid to 4get their problems, its just the writers dnt have any other creative ideas.

Never noticed that when they go to bars to drink their sorrows away it turns out to even worse the day after?
They get drunk, ends up with a random person in bed > triangle relationship >> boring for the next 5 episodes?

They show that alchol can be a problem solver and a problem maker.

    Yer exactly! ^
It always make me laugh that no matter how much they drink, the next day they'll still be beautiful even though they slept with their last nights makeup and suffering from a horrible hangover instead of 'how did i end up in bed with you?' lol

Seeing them drink never made me wanna have a drink myself....

Also, in american soaps, in those rich houses, they are always have a trail of cognac or whiskey in the living room. It's kinda weird to see them drink in the afternoon. But heh.... I would rather see them drink water tbh. :/

I dont think they promote alcoholism esp TVB. They are more cautious about it these days. Since smoking is already banned, probably this is the best way to reduce stress ( I mean a more obvious way to show it on screen)....

i don't think they are purposely promoting it, it just ppl tend to drink in those situations and besides if u say they are, then all media is rele in a way influencing ppl all the time.

that's stupid, they don't promote alcoholism, you're just being abit sensitive and paranoid about it. They just try to portray what people actually do in real life.

and btw kung fu dunk ain't part of tvb..

Nah, they are not promoting it, alcohol is just a way to show where adults go to relief their stress and problems.
