Not sure if this is an asian thing but my mum, my dad doesnt care less. But my mum always compare me to my cousins or to their friends' kids... etc! Soooo annoying!! And I'm like i'm not them, STOP comparing me to them!! I mean its alright for them to compare us kids innit. But when us kids talk about comparing parents noo.. they give us a row!
Do you live in the UK? hehe. Anyways, uhh.. I'm thinking all Asian parents are like that and that's probably why there's no reason to discuss it because it's been discussed in other threads. Try look in the Rant Forum.

yeh all the time .. especially to those that are in uni and who got a good HSC (higher school certificate) mark farout man it pisses the hell outta me
all the time, its just built into all asian parents to compare you and say "why cant you be like so and so, they doing this and always do that"
Blehh... Annoys the hell outta me when my mum [only she does it, not my daddy <3] compares me to other people or says stuff like ooooooooooooooooo yan dei gor jai/lui does this and that <_< Yeahhh whatever -tongue2
some times..lol..but wen i go to my frens..their parents like to compare us two together which gets a bit awkward..=/
My parents compare me with everyone they know. Even people older or younger than me. It's embarrassing too since I need face when I go out to work, hang out, etc.
ALL the freaking time! The funniest is when me and my cousin walk in the room and the compare us in our faces, and my aunt would be like "Ah look at your daughter so pretty!" Then my mum would probably say soemthing like "You'r daughter is much prettier than mine, mine is so fat..." Blah blah blah, that was all in the past anyway...
Haha, they used to until I got to college. I would say to them if you continue to compare me to them why don't you adopt them or if you continue on I will quit school and leech off at home...that silenced them quite well.
hell yea but not int he way that you would normally think you normally think of asians comparing you to other kids as, you have to beat them, or you should learn from them my parents instead would find kids that that are bad like my cousins who wrote on the wall when they were 5 or my cousins who aren't married at 40 and keep saying, dont become them dont become them i'll die if you can't get married sooner
