Monday October 2, 2006 Hong Kong Eason Chan unhappy with TVB On Saturday, September 30, 2006 the 2006 TVB JSG 2nd Round awards were given out. As previously stated, if you don't show you don't get an award. On the same night, Eason Chan was holding a Metro Radio Mini Concert. Because of conflicts of schedule for both events, Metro Radio changed the concert to start at an earlier time in order for Eason to make it to the JSG awards. Among the guest performers at the mini concert were Josie Ho, Wilfred Lau, Kay Tse, Grace Yip, and many others. Among the audience was wife Hilary Tsui, daughter Constance, father Chan Kau Tai, Eric Kwok, Wyman Wong, and many others. Since Metro Radio changed the start time of the concert last minute only a third of ticket holders showed up at the earlier start time, resulting in a 30 minute delay. As the concert was heading to the finale, Eason voices his displeasment towards TVB. He says, "After this song I can't stay even though I want to. I don't have a choice since there is a scheduling conflict. I probably have a chance at winning an award, otherwise my company will fold. You guys don't understand, no one understands why an artist will get an award only if we show up and of an artist doesn't show up we won't get an award. If they think I should get an award, they can give it to me. The only thing I can do is sing the nominated song for you guys now." Eason then sings "Falling Flowers Running Water" while shaking hands with the audience, causing an intensely exciting atmosphere. Because of the exciting atmosphere Eason could not help himself and sang another song dispite the fact that he will be late. As he finishes the last song he says, "Since I'm at it, maybe I shouldn't leave." The audience immediately responds, "Yeah!" After finishing the song he blows kisses to the audience and rushes out. After the awards show Eason was asked if Metro Radio purposely changed the starting time of his concert in order for him to attend the award show. Without hesitation Eason responds, "Yes because one of my songs were nominated. I didn't know if I was going to win so I was nervous because I didn't get anything in the 1st round. Winning this award is very important to my company." He was then asked if he thought it was suspicious that 2 awards were added to the original 12? He responds, "I don't care, I got an award so I'll leave it at that." credits: ent163, asianfanatics.
