Friday November 24, 2006 Hong Kong Eason Chan's New Album Reaches Gold Disc Status Before Official Release Although Hong Kong's album sales have not returned to it previous form, Eason Chan went against the odds and came up strong. His newest to-be-released album, "What's Going On...?," already earned him IFPI's Gold Disc status through pre-orders of over 20,000 copies. The official release date of "What's Going On...?" is today, November 24th, but prior to today his record company received orders of over 20,000 copies. Enough copies for "What's Going On...?" to qualify for Gold Disc status. Having pre-orders of over 20,000 copies is something rare and hasn't been seen often in the Hong Kong record industry over the past couple of years. With these numbers, his record company has confidence that this new album will exceed sales of his previous albums. Earlier in the year, Eason's EP "Life Continues" also had good sales which took some pressure off of this album. As for the album title, "What's Going On...?," Eason says that this is a question everyone should be asking themselves and in asking also answering the question by solving problems. Ask what's going on in your life, ask what's going on in the world. As for Eason, with his album being released today he will not be in Hong Kong promoting it. He is flying to Shanghai with wife, Hilary Tsui and daughter, Constance for his highly anticipated "Live In Shanghai" concert. credits: sina, asianfanatics.
