Eunice Lam Discharged from Hospital to Assist Steven Ma For the first-round match in TVB cultural game show, Book of Words,《正識第一》Steven Ma invited Eunice Lam Yin Nei (林燕妮) to be his counselor. This team was strong enough to crack the top three. Recently, the shooting of "Top Three Battle for Supremacy" (三強爭霸戰) for Book of Words took place. Prior to that day, Ms. Lam had been hospitalized for several days for pneumonia and high fever. Concerned that her absence might affect Ma Zai’s confidence in the match, Ms. Lam requested from her doctor a temporary discharge from the hospital so that she could battle alongside Ma Zai. She did not do it for the show’s valuable prizes and award money; rather it was to fulfill her promise to Steven. She said: “Since I promised Steven to help him, I didn’t want to be absent. I was worried that I might catch a cold so I put on this sable coat to keep warm. I wore this coat when I did the show “On the Road”《向世界出發》for TVB, even in -10 degrees Korea, it’s still very warm.” She had deliberately concealed her illness from Ma Zai because she did not want him to worry. During the whole recording she behaved as if nothing was the matter. It was only after the recording that Ma Zai found out about Ms. Lam’s illness because only then did she tell him that she had to go back to the hospital for treatments. Extremely moved, Ma Zai composed a poem right there and then to thank Ms. Lam for her assistance. Recited as one, the 1st character on each line of the 4-line stanza when combined will read: “Thanks, Lam Yin Nei” (謝林燕妮)”.
