Not too sure if I like this remake of what was a wonderful comedy horror classic; the original was funnier than heck. This new one just looks like generic schlock fear horror with no humor at all.

@ ralph, yeah it's definitely different than the original. Making it completely scary. I'm conflicted about whether to watch this or not. On one hand, I like these sorts of films, but it looks scary as shit.

From Evil Dead 3 Army Of Darkness

    And who can forget this?

The original Evil Dead series was a entertainment tour de force, with Campbell's 'S-Mart' sales routines, mimicking (then wide spread and ubiquitous) American brand K-Mart franchise's in-store 'Attention, Shoppers' announcement advertising, was sheer comedic genius, eventually moving the film to cult status. It was horror, yes; but with a huge dose of twisted tongue in cheek dark humor, making it a joy to watch even for those that don't generally care for the genre. The only similarity offered by this new comer is in the borrowed name; it seems more reminiscent and better compared to Cold Prey [2006] and it's sequels; a Norwegian series about a group of young adults falling victim starting with a snowbound abandoned lodge, a hospital, and then the woods; there was nothing funny in any of them either. While slasher films have their merits and admittedly, their own audiences and following, IMHO this film's using of Evil Dead's premise and film devices does the predecessor a huge disservice.

I liked the original movies with the mix of horror and humor.
I just watched this remake and it was crap. Here it's just horror and no humor.
It wasn't even scary, just gore and the beginning was even boring.
