Excellent viewership brightens up Harlem Yu Wife's extramarital affair exposed on tabloids has dampened spirits of Harlem Yu, a jovial host, for a few months. Recently, he finally finds a reason to laugh out loud. Over and done with the recording of a season of Hong Kong's variety programme "Boom Boom Ba", Yu returned to the studio in Taiwan on Tuesday to record "The One Million Singer". He appeared revitalized and in high spirits so reporters were careful not to disrupt his good mood with insensitive questions. When asked about his programme in Hong Kong, Yu said interestingly that he was not required to speak Cantonese and revealed that he could only manage a few simple Cantonese phrases. "I guess when they invite me to host the programme, they probably want to hear me speak Mandarin," he said. Previous dabbling in Hong Kong variety show "Foodie 2 Shoes" achieved amazing results in 2007, bringing stress for this brand new assignment. According to Yu's manager, the programme achieved a rating of 29 when it was broadcasted, considerably a great result in Hong Kong and Yu was nothing but proud of his efforts. Having previously clinched the "Best Host Award" in Hong Kong, his well-recognized hosting skills seem to have surpassed language barriers. His partner in "Foodie 2 Shoes", Patrick Tang, also made exclaiming praises, "With Harlem on the show, there is no risk of awkward silences." Stepping across boundaries from a singer to a host, Yu has gained his own perspectives on variety show and hosting. He feels that having creative content different from the others is more important than having a competitor. Yu revealed that he will be traveling to other countries to record a special edition for "Boom Boom Ba" before this assignment will be brought to a temporary closure. Another entertainment company in Hong Kong is also said to be planning a world tour concert for him, hoping it can begin in Taipei during summer holiday this year. With regards to the concert, Yu said reservedly, "We'll take a look at the content design of the concert before deciding."
