HOUSTON - The driver of a fake school bus was able to evade arrest after a state trooper discovered more than $1 million worth of marijuana inside the bus, Department of Public Safety officials said. An officer had pulled over a school bus marked to resemble a United ISD school bus on U.S. 59 North near Laredo Saturday, according to a DPS statement. The officer then found 5,408 pounds of marijuana inside the school bus, according to the statement. The estimated street value of the drugs is more than $1.7 million. The driver of the bus fled on foot from the scene, but DPS investigators are pursuing several leads in connection to the drug bust, according to the statement.
