Since leaving TVB last year, Fala Chen (陳法拉) has found a better work-life balance. Although she is still very passionate about acting, Fala finds it is equally important to spend quality time with loved ones. Taking a break from work, Fala plans to spend Lunar New Year with her parents in the United States.

Recalling the last time she spent the holiday with her family, Fala reminisced, “Last year, I spent even more time in the United States and the entire house was full of joy. The happiness of my father and mother are the most important.”

Opting to spend the holidays with her family once more this year, Fala joked about the inevitable weight gain she will be incurring due to her mother’s delicious cooking. Fala added, “I get fatter every year – [my weight] increases when New Year comes along because of my mother’s famous rice pudding. She makes it like a pretty flower – it’s good to look at and good to eat. My father also dries his own Chinese sausages. I dry and help eat them too. I even help him send them as gifts to his friends across the United States.”

    Striking Gold Since Leaving TVB

Although Fala has disappeared from television screens in Hong Kong, she made prominent appearances in various movies opposite Dayo Wong (黃子華), Gordon Lam (林家棟), and Ronald Cheng (鄭中基) last year. Since the airing of Sound of The Desert <風中奇緣> in Mainland China, Fala’s popularity has also surged. Fala is popular among directors and is frequently offered roles. Her filming fees have increased, and she continued to be in high demand at promotional events and shows.

Finding balance in her work and personal life since leaving TVB, Fala is now focused on taking good care of her mental and physical well-being. She looks forward to a festive Lunar New Year celebration with her family next week.
