Fans Disgusted by Leehom Wang's Hair Fix With Saliva

The image of Leehom Wang (王力宏) was dashed when ardent fans turned up for his concert at Foshan, Guangdong and witnessed the distasteful act of Leehom using his saliva as hair gel.

After singing his last song, Leehom laid down on the floor, which was nothing unusual as he often did that in his concerts. What happened next was not part of his usual routine though. He licked his fingers to style his coiffure. Leehom’s actions were caught on camera by his fans.

When the photographs went online, fans were shocked. Some fans were disgusted that the clean boy image Leehom portrayed was just a facade. Leehom’s boyish good looks and musical talents earned him droves of fans and nods from critics. Advertisers love his clean-boy image and he is seen often on television and billboards around Asia. However, the perfect image they have of their idol was dashed in an instant by his unhygienic “saliva hair gel” act.

Deliberate Act

All is not in vain for Leehom though. There are hardcore fans that stand by him. Some believed that it was a deliberate act by Leehom to shock his fans. With so many fans around, and he being the spotlight of the night, he must know that all eyes were on him. As such, he knew he would be photographed and it was his intention to shock his fans with his gesture.

In fact, it melds well with Leehom’s straightforward character. He has always been known to be a person of little pretense. More often than not, he was photographed in tattered clothing as well as unkempt hair. On countless occasions, he posted unshaven photographs of himself on Weibo.

While Leehom should be applauded for his talents and not his image, there are others who may see his “saliva hair gel” act as a matter of distasteful hygiene.
