Warriors from 1999 with Ioan Gruffudd (Fantastic Four), Damian Lewis (Band Of Brothers) and Matthew MacFayden (Spooks) and Black Hawk Down. (also with Ioan Gruffudd I just realised!)
Not a fan of the war genre in general... Didn't quite see the appeal of Saving Private Ryan and/or Black Hawk Down... Apocalypse Now was totally overrated, but still very well made... Der Untergang (The Downfall) was one intense film so overwhelming that I can hardly breath... If it counts... Deathwatch was one of my guilty pleasures since it covered a favourite genre of mine: horror/thriller. Schindler's List since it starred two of my favourite actors: Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson)
^ hmm I totally forgot Schindler's List! -shock (and yeah I agree Apocaplyse Now is totally overrated, maybe because the film teachers were always stressing on how brlliant it was and I kinda have this rebellistic nature in myself to find the opposite)
Considering Apocalypse Now took a huge budget (back in the days), 3 years to make, and edited out of 200 hours of footages, anything less than a masterpiece would be a SHAME.
Lord of War starring Nicholas Cage not really a 'war' movie per say, but its fuken amazing nonetheless. the opening scene following the bullets is incredible
Tae Guk Gi? i think thats the title...from won bin... Oh and "the patriot"....is that considered a war movie? Actually....I dont really like war movies...i always feel bad afterwards =/
Yup that movie was freaking awesome, the badass intro and all that, the acting were all great, Jared Leto acting like a drug addict again, reminds me of Requiem for a Dream so much and Nicholas Cage was slick...
err war movies never been much of a fan of these..only ones ive seen that stick out in my mind....and off the top of my head are... - saving private ryan - schindler's list so guess they must be the best ones ^^
der untergang was truely amazing....it was almost as if I feel pity for Hitler.... Saving private ryan was also a very amazing film..... These two are by far my favorite war movies
I loved Downfall. Watched it in History class and it was amazing. But it looked like I was the only one in my class that enjoyed it -sweat
saving private ryan, just because of the awesome omaha beach scene at the start of the movie. (Think the first medal of honor pc game and call of duty game copied that whole omaha scene. Rite down to the part of blowing up the mine fence and the running thru the mine field part.) Other that tat.....does the whole Band OF brothers tv serries count as a movie?? Fu@king awesome....really recommend it to fans of world war 2 warfare movies...so realistic and moving.
Yup Last Samurai another one of my favorites, the samurai battles were awesome, but it points out an important fact, that modern warfare is superior and way more fatal than what the samurai's can do back then. Plus the ending battle was just tragic...
I believe this was made before Tom Cruise started to go crazy lol. It was a good film, but still not worthy to be in my all time favorites.
^yea i still gotta respect tom cruise as an actor though even though he's wacky as hell. I've never really hated any movie he's in well basically i watched his movies starting from the late 90s and also Rain Man, was great...
