    It’s rumored that the star received 20 million RMB to make the commercial, and it fuel speculations that she might make a full comeback into entertainment world soon.

    u didn't know that celebrities make that much on commercials?

    selling albums isn't good money making, approx $10 HKD per CD sold, but because hundreds of thousands fans buy them, in the end they make $200-500K on a single album;

    when you look at the drama series, the stars charge per episode wise, some go as much as $20,000 an episode (like The Gem of Life), Gigi Lai would have make $1.64 million just for one drama series.

    and commercials is the image of the product, the product's marketing dept. would of course know what is worth and what is not (china has a huge population, where as $1 from each person in the country would bring back more than $20M RMB.

    also about her age, it seems like the ad is aiming at the older age group; the shampoo includes chinese medicine ingredients. why would you want some youngster who just enter the industry to be on the ad? it just won't fit and is not persuasive enough for the younger age groups to buy; the older group would believe more in the chinese med. and have the money to spend on this purchase; do you think people in the 20's of even yourself would give sh*t about this shampoo that includes chinese medicine ingredients and buy this product?
