tw..all the apps listed in the first thread are all loaded on my system...countless times i've saved seriously infected systems with these tools and a few others and tips...which i'll keep secret...ha!....without having to reformat the system...suggestion..burn em all to a cd and keep it handy incase you ever need to clean out a pc...

nope..it should wrk no matter what ur connection....sp2 firewall...too much issues with sp2..don have it on any of my systems and prob wont for awhile..as for firewalls..yes...zonealarm...also sygate..
i've been using all the above and i've been protected (so far). with the free softwares it takes some discipline and you have update manually each time you go on the net. and to scan regularly.
i use AVG free, i just cant be bothered with that stuff any more :( install and leave it to do its own thing. i advise u get Webroot spy sweeper, its awesome but its not free.
