Ruby Lin (林心如) has achieved tremendous success in both her acting and singing careers. In 2010, she decided to try to establish her own production company, Ruby Lin Studios. Ever since Ruby Lin became a producer, she successfully produced quite several critically acclaimed TV dramas such as Qing Shi Huang Fei <傾世皇妃> and the Golden Bell Award nominee, Forgotten <遺忘>. Rumor has it that Ruby has earned $400 million dollars (NT) just from the royalties earned from the sale of Qing Shi Huang Fei’s DVDs. One of the artists under Ruby’s production studio, Jennifer Hong (洪小鈴), also qualified for the Golden Bell award for her performance in the TV series, Inborn Pair <真愛找麻煩>. A Generous Boss To celebrate the great success from her production studio, and also to show her gratitude to her staff members, Ruby took them on vacation to the extravagant Le Meriden Koh Samui Resort & Spa in Samui Island, Thailand. Ruby, Jennifer, and 8 staff members stayed for 5 days and 4 nights in individual suites that come with private swimming pools. Feeling exhausted from working through recent hectic schedules, Ruby only wished to relax and rest up in her luxurious ocean view hotel suite. Therefore, she did not even have a chance to check out the beautiful scenery at Samui Island. Ruby mentioned her biggest entertainment on the island was wine drinking. “After breakfast, I changed to a swimsuit and swam until noon. I had cocktail drinks and then some champagne afterwards. At night I continued drinking red wine.” The only time Ruby stepped out of the hotel was after losing a game that required her and Jennifer to buy everyone some fast-food at McDonald’s. Ruby was dressed in a bikini covered with a sheer lace cover-up, and she was fantasizing about meeting a handsome man along the way. However in reality, Ruby did not hook up with any good-looking hunks during the trip. The press estimated that Ruby spent approximately $800,000 TWD in the getaway to Samui Island by treating her employees as well. The ten round trip airline tickets were projected to cost $400,000 TWD.
