BERLIN (Reuters) - A 59-year-old German woman has had most of a pencil removed from inside her head after suffering nearly her whole life with the headaches and nosebleeds it caused, Bild newspaper reported on Monday. Margret Wegner fell over carrying the pencil in her hand when she was four. "The pencil went right through my skin -- and disappeared into my head," Wegner told the newspaper. It narrowly missed vital parts of her brain. At the time no one dared operate, but now technology has improved sufficiently for doctors to be able to remove it. The majority of the pencil, some 8 cm long, was taken out in an operation at a private Berlin clinic, but the 2 cm tip had grown in so firmly that it was impossible to remove.
I hope the 2 cm tip which was impossible to remove would not cause her any side effect in future. All the best to her recovery.
reminds me of the homer and the crayon lodged in brain. But, ouch 55 years...well it's good she finally got it taken out. Hope that last 2 cm won't do too much damange.
Lol that was exactly what I was thinking when I read the title. At least it didn't do any real damage.
OUCH that gotta hurt how can she live like that all these years how come the tip is still there... those surgeons are shits i mean they can like open ur skull and change ur organs cant they even remove a pencil? o_0
It was lead once upon a time, but not sure when they did the switch. It's amazing that a pencil could penetrate through her skull, as I thought it should have grown together by then. I wonder if those nosebleeds were frequent enough that she needed to visit the hospital on a regular basis. Must have been a very unfortunate ~50 years. I hope for her complete recovery, leaving behind the suffering.
she must've have a hard life, 50 sumthin years with something stuck in your head is definitely not pleasant, would seriously already feel like a lifetime...
Wow, 55 years having a pencil embedded in your head. Having to imagine that is even unbearable. >.<;;
