It's been 5 years since Gigi Leung (梁詠琪) last released a Cantonese album. Today she was at the radio station promoting her new song "B Side First Song" - 《B面第一首》which is written by Wyman Wong (黃偉文), and revealed that her new album will be released on cassette tapes, taking everyone back in time 20 years ago. Gigi explained that she hopes to release her album in August on cassette only in order to celebrate her 20 years in the industry, and that the inspiration for this concept came to life as she feels that her life is kind of like a cassette tape, once the A side finishes playing, it's time for the B side. She hopes to make it more memorable and take everyone back to the 90's era. She also mentioned that she burst out laughing when a child overheard them discussing the idea and asked her what a walkman was. In regards to this new concept Gigi has done her market research and reveals that walkman prices nowadays may be reasonable but knows that not many people will possess one, as a result she will be giving out free walkmans engraved with her name with her new album, however she did admit that when trying to find a walkman manufacturer, the process was a bit hard. Fans was worried that Gigi was planning to retire after this album but was quickly reassured that she won't be retiring that quick and even has plans to hold a concert next year if she has time in her schedule. ~~~ cred: mingpao
Luckily my 05 Acura has a cassette player still with the cd deck but dang it that means I can't dl it haha or we'll it be up here to be able too....Do like the concept though.
How much will this release be if it includes a Walkman? Must be expensive to get old technology redone - CDs must be cheaper to make than cassettes now and how much to make a Walkman now?
