in the sales presentation this was suppose to star LF & Ron...big downgrade to Ben and Cho Lam? -lol not my genre... but would of watched if LF was the king
no thanks: - silly tvb comedy - wong cho lam as lead(?!) - that fat woman playing again and that other dude on the right side who yells whenever he talks..
So the description says the story is set in the time of Yongzheng, which means around the first half of the 18th century. However, in yesterday's episode a Japanese official appeared and he was wearing a uniform one would clearly associate with the end of the 19th/beginning of the 20th century. Ridiculous.
I like this drama, but I have one question. How comes some of the prince are referred to as Fourth Prince (Ben Wong), Eight Prince.etc but there's only about 5 of them present in the room (excluding the main prince, Power). Not good at Chinese history so enlighten me if you know the answer
Oh that make sense then. Thanks. @Wal yeah I too don't like say say nup acting, she tries to act all cute and stuff but for some odd reasons, it doesn't go well or suit her. Didn't she say she'll go on a diet? Don't really like people not keeping to their words. Oh and Bob is alright but his tone of voice can be adjusted, especially in that era where it is probably not normal to speak that loud...however it is a drama after all
Nope it is just that those are the Prince that are the main prince that is fighting over the throne. If you want to watch something that has to do with this period, go look for Secret of the Majesty, it is a serious drama about the same prince fighting for the throne.
Only realised by reading the comments. Episode 4, 31:30-31.40 in this time frame, you can see a modern silver van drive by at the background. Which is immediately about the eighth prince rescue the little girl.
Talent wise, over these last few years, TVB has been functionally knee capped and this series certainly shows it. Second and third tier actors being used as top shelf in main starring roles seems to be a given now since so many of their previous stars have jumped ship to greener or more lucrative pastures. TVB had long been known to have locked their most precious assets into onerous contracts; it's no wonder that when given the opportunity, the bulk of them would flee. I agree with respondent Wal in his commentary about Wong Cho Lam as the lead; even in a comedic drama, Wong is risky despite his obvious talent. While his stature deficit may be cute to some, to others it may persistently signal that he isn't leading man material. Instead, I would have imagined someone like Bobby Au Yeung as a better suited candidate for this role. In the show's defense, Ben Wong, is solid as the 4th Prince; long proven capable in a variety of supporting roles, I'm also glad he's getting a continuing opportunity in becoming a main role presence. Sadly though, the choice for the 8th Prince character is woefully pedestrian, especially with this guy's low brow face, unshaved stubble and anemic mustache. The facial hair, not quite a goatee nor full mustache, makes him look more dirty than tough; his appearance is more thug than prince. IMHO, he's too much of a visual nobody to have been given such prominent screen time. Shows audiences can generally tolerate one bad cast selection; but when these poor choices multiply, they do so at the series' detriment and this is what has happened. The ambulante troupe girl that both princes have the hots for is not pretty. In fact, she's so visually challenged (in the looks department) that I wonder how she's deserving of the avid attention the two royals give her. Nancy Wu appears now to have fallen from grace, being refolded from her short run as starlet back into the ranks of Keh Lef Feh support. But frankly, I didn't think she had the looks required of stardom and never quite understood what TVB had seen in her in the first place. I guess they finally agreed with me. Finally, in all fairness, this show is funny, but with all these lesser knowns running around, it is rendered visually jarring, making it painful to watch.
I got pretty annoyed at today's episode - the part where they said they invented the fork, Russian soup and curry chicken...that's some bullshit right there lol
SO... is this about Chef or about the country's affair.. the title of this drama is misleading.. lmao...
Most boring TVB drama imo. I only watched a couple of eps because my grandmother was watching it lol. I only liked Man Yi Man though, still very pretty even though she is already 43-44...
