Gillian Chung Joins Cast of 'Mei LanFang'? Charlene Choi Takes Over 'The Fantastic Water Babes'? Following "The Promise", director, Kaige Chen, has used two years of time to film a new production, "Mei LanFang". He will be bringing the biography of this Beijing Opera artiste up to the big screens. The film is currently in its screen testing stage, and it will officially begin filming next month. Leon Lai, being the male lead, is now in Beijing, and he is receiving special training of the Beijing Opera. He has also shaved his head to match his character. Kaige Chen has also required for the whole cast to sign a contract to keep all information of the film confidential. As for the female lead, Gillian Chung, who had been in Mainland filming a series, "Rinsing Flowers and Purifying Swords", had suddenly asked the filming crew for a day off. She rode on a private plane, belong to EEG's boss, Albert Yeung, and reported to the filming crew of "Mei LanFang" to do screen tests. Kaige Chen was very satisfied ith the results. In an instant, the decision of collaborating with Gillian was made. Starting next month, Gillian will need to be in Mainland for two months working on the film. Because the filming dates of "Mei LanFang" completely clashed with Gillian's other scheduled film, "The Fantastic Water Babes", Gillian has already made her ultimate decision between the two projects. If the schedules really cannot compromise, then she would rather give up on "TFWB". A few days ago, she has also made a phone call personally to her good friend, Charlene Choi, hoping that Charlene will be able to prepare of replacing her in "TFWB" and collaborating with Alex Fong. Gillian is aware that Kaige Chen has very high standards of his cast, and she will have many scenes with the big cast, Leon Lai and Zhang Ziyi. Thus, she had been very nervous. In the coming days, she will also be spending a lot of time learning Beijing Opera with the filming crew. Fortunately, Kaige Chen was very impressed with the results of her screen tests. The initial stage has made Gillian release her pressure and burden. Towards Gillian acting in "Mei LanFang", reporters have made a call to her manager, Mani Fok. However, Mani has suddenly changed her usually cooperative attitude and expressed, "Everything will have to announced by the filming crew. We have nothing to say about this." After saying that, she hastily hung up.
Wow she let go the the fantastic water babe. Poor Alex but maybe he and Charlene will come out with a new feeling in the movie.
dang leon lai starring in a movie, i cant say i have high hopes for this film with him in it as the lead
if the schedule really doesnt work out, i would rather see gill films "Mei Lan Fang" than "TFWB"...the casts and the story of this film are better than TFWB...
