Over the years, Gillian Chung’s (鍾欣桐) love life had been rough with many ups and downs. Earlier, she reportedly broke up with her Korean boyfriend, Tyler Kwon. Gillian chose to concentrate on her career and is currently filming in mainland China. Her first mandarin album, Blossom <桐花>, has also been released. Gillian revealed how she resembles the special blossom on the southern coast of China, because it is strong with a large growing capacity. The entire new album has a flower theme. Gillian expressed that a mainland lyricist believes she is very suited to sing soft love songs after he heard her perform a duet called “Give You All” with Kenji Wu (吳克群). All the songs in the album reflect Gillian’s love life and enable her to express her views in love. What is Gillian’s favorite flower? “I think I’m like a blossom, because I recover very quickly. At the moment, I really like black tulips from Holland. They look very cool!” An image director from Singapore, Alvin Goh, helped Gillian pull off five different styles for the album. Alvin has once been the stylist of Hollywood stars such as Emma Watson, Milla Jovovich, and Uma Thurman. When asked which of the five styles Gillian loved most, she said she preferred the one with short hair. “It doesn’t look like me, but it’s actually me. I’ve never cut my hair to that length before, so it gives me a fresh feeling. Alvin’s friend, GAN, was my photographer. He was really mean, and constantly told me that I couldn’t make the pose he wanted. In the end, Alvin told me that GAN is just a straightforward man. Oh well, the most important thing is that the photos turned out nice.” When unhappiness strikes, Gillian would turn to her cello and energize herself with music. “I’m not going to be involved in a relationship in the next two years,” she revealed. “The good thing about having bad experiences is that my endurance level increases. In the past, I would become angry over little things, but now I don’t utter a single complaint even after filming for seven hours straight.” For the rest of 2013, Gillian will be spending the majority of her time in mainland China. She will be shooting a new film, Arctic Fox <白狐>, with Chilam Cheung (張智霖). Gillian expressed her homesickness. “I haven’t been home in a long while. I really miss my family, and I hope I can spend more time with them later this year.” Creds: Face Magazine
