Girl's Leg Severed on Superman Ride.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A teenage girl's legs were severed above the ankle while on a thrill ride at a popular amusement park on Thursday, park officials said.

The accident happened around 4:45 p.m. on the Superman Tower of Power at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, said Six Flags spokeswoman Wendy Goldberg.

It is unclear at what point during the ride the girl, 13, was injured, Goldberg said. She was taken to a hospital, but there was no immediate word on her condition.

The ride lifts passengers 177 feet straight up, then drops 154 feet, reaching a speed of 54 mph, according to the park's Web site.

The ride has been shut down indefinitely while park officials investigate what caused the accident. The rest of the park remained open.


First time i heard someone getting injured on superman. lucky it wasn't something that can kill her.

 

worst thing that could possibly happen to a person going on one of those open bottom rollercoasters... that is the suck, i wonder if she was just really tall

 

wahh, i just read this story on another forum.. i wonder about the details how her feet get cut off.. the 6flags over here for superman is sit in a little pod for 2ppl.. how can her feet get cut off??

painful.... first article says 13 second says she's 16...
severed = cut or severed = cut off? :S

 

both her feet are gone lol, end of story... the only consolation is that she will probably soon be millions of dollars richer after a lawsuit.

A couple years ago, some 55 year old guy swung off the Superman ride and died here in the Six Flags New England one hour from where I live.

Good thing I don't like roller coasters, I'm afraid for the worst. I only like bumper cars
But man, I feel bad for the girl. She is definitely traumatized by this, I hope the doctors can do something about her legs. It's too sad that one loses their legs, just because of a way of entertainment.

 

OMG....that's really horrible. I am just thinking about it what will you do if you are sitting next to her and ... *PENG* cord cuts off her legs??? Ufffff.....I don't want to be the person who was sitting next to her....

Milion of dollars is no consolation for no legs. Her life is from now on severely limited. Being 13 years old or 16 years old is her life getting started flirting, dating going out etc.
