I would like to talk about how we, the younger generation, has it tough on growing up as what we want to be. Parents would usually object to the ideals of what their children want to grow up as. One time, i told my mother i wanted to grow up as a doctor. She went berzerk, she went on ranting at me for days saying how she doesnt want me to be a doctor. It was such a depressing week or two. I went into deep thought for days wondering what options i have. I came up with spirituality. I need to do what i can live best with and something that i wont regret. I decided that i wanted to do culinary arts. Years passed and i am here now,a year away from college, still in my head with plans on being a chef or a pastry chef. However, i do not have the skills or experience to be in a kitchen. The thing that is motivating me right now is my passion and interest driving me towards this profession. My final decision is that i take classes in college on culinary arts and Bio as a backup major (in case i dont choose culinary). So im wondering right now is there is anything left that i need help with. College is a place to learn things, so i will get the experience there right? Right now im worried if im doing something wrong. It keeps killing me how my life wont run as smoothly as it will. Sure, there will be obstacles. I feel as if i need guidance...
^ ur mom DIDN'T want u to become a doctor? r u sure ur asian? haha. anyways, when ur asking for help, what help are u asking for? i don't really get what ur asking. don't stress out too much. everyone worries whether their lives will turn out okay.
wuahahaha...yesyes... i was thinking the same... are u ASIAN? Most of asian parents want u to be dr, financial controller or something else that has to do with money/business.... if u need guidance...talk to one of ur teachers from school or someone u trust
^ All Asian parents want their kids to be a doctor, lawyer or some other high paying job. I guess being a chef runs in the family and your mom want you to continue the line?
no, i didnt tell my mom anything else after that doctor incident! the chef thing was my own passion. And i am asian!! chinese to be exact.
you have made your decision to take the classes.. go ahead for it...why worry over things that is obscure? you won't know how you'll be doing...if you are doing fine that's great, if you did wrong it'll be better because you learn your mistakes...i just don't want you to keep thinking and worrying and in the end nothing gets done because you haven't even tried doing it...-^_^-^_^
My mum is the best one in my case, she allowed me to do whatever course i wanted as long as i like it cause she knows that if she force me to do something i don like i would not exel in it. Honey, ur only one year away from college so its very natural to not have any skills yet...I am in 3rd year uni and i am still quite inefficient..So, take your time to choose and make sure thats what you really wanna do then go for it.
haha like most of the above, i cant believe ur mom went berserk at you wanting to be a doctorm, if i said that when i was young my mom would be jumping for joy lol you need to experience something before you can say if its right or wrong, you learn from your mistakes! So its hard to say if your doing something wrong or right at this point in your life experiment and it will all fall into place
haha ... for real? your mom wants you to be a cook than a doctor? what's her reasoning for that? my mom ... WHAT?! you are not a doctor?!
You're kidding! I never know any mum who FORBID her own son from becoming a doctor. Especially among chinese, a child of yours who is a doctor gives the mother great pride. This is so weird. My advise is to do wat you want and what you like. We excel at what we're intereted in and we're interested in what we like right? And as long as you excel, you can easily get a job and stuff will be smooth right? Don't think too much. Just do what you really want. You're the one who has to do the job till you retire. IF you do somethihng you don't like, you're the one who will suffer. Think on it.
^ don't you have to declare your major on the second year? @OP, damn are you asian lol, my mom would always want me to be a doctor or a lawyer or a job that makes alot of money lols, they set that as the only goal for me in college, but still if you want to be something shouldn't care about others opinion, just find your own career or you'll have more regrets in the future.
