    Hey everyone,

I have an old desktop Windows XP that I can't even get to turn on because every time I do, the screen says Message: Entering Power save Mode. The screen then turns black and it attempts to start up again with the same error message and the same black screen. If I don't touch it, it just keeps attempting to start up over and over again. What's wrong with it?! Please help!! Thank you for your time.

Since it's old, first thing I do is too clean out all the dust using compressed air. You can get compressed air cans from amazon. You can also try reseating everything after the cleanup, e.g. RAM, GPU, etc etc etc.

Although it's quite tempting DO NOT use a vacuum cleaner, it produces static electricity that can damage the components in the desktop. Since your taking apart your desktop I would use a wrist strap too just in case.

We start with the above first, hopefully it's not the fact that your PSU failed and don't attempt to take apart or open the PSU.

Opps, my mom used a vacuum cleaner when it kept doing this to remove the dust. I dont know what you mean by what kind of hardware. And i can't remember how old exactly... 6 years +?

Faulty/dying PSU? So you can't even enter the BIOS I'm assuming.
