I am looking for a new wireless router which gives you a good connection and speed. Also, good to connect with another computer in another room. Can anyone suggest a good one? Also since I need to connect another computer to the same internet connection, do I need to get a USB adapter to connect to the router instead of the wired?

    still going strong =)

has 4 ports + up to wateva wireless connections (more than i'd ever need)
quite costly back then too =(
was like about 450 or so =/

You first need to know what type of wlan router you want to have.
Current wlan protocals are A, B, G and N standard.
If you look at the future and the N standard is best bet

plus i don't think u'd notice all the difference between the models
if u knew abt them all and actually use it, im sure theres not much need to ask us here, cos u'd know wat u want =)

but as they all haf said, any wireless with N is more than fine, and just pick from the common brands such as netgear, dlink, etc
just pick something within budget and has warranty =)

also look at the distance between the farthest computer and the wireless router and if their are many walls/things obstructing the radio frequency...you may have to add a access point to boost the signal strength

i would probably go with a G router from linksys or netgear...i wouldn't get a N yet...cuz the technology like knoc said is unstable...plus its still in development and their has been no official release of anything with 802.11N

other than the wireless N routers and certain laptops with built in N cards.

^ wat i mean was that N products aren't in final release yet...cuz they are still being labeled with draft after them.

    Linksys has a few http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Sate...nksys/Common/VisitorWrapper&lid=3600113404N03

much like solid state drives...i'll give them 6 more months to mature before i go head first into the new technology...first gen stuff always has bugs in it. I like the tried and tested standards when suggesting stuff to get...that way non techies can get on their feet in a flash

techies like u knoc probably have a wireless router that has the custom DDWRT firmware installed or are running a pix with switches

if you can get Linksys WRT54GL, you will be very happy with it. Load the HyperWRT firmware and your set. Very stable and connection speed very good! I have never rebooted my router even once!

No that you've clarified what you mean.
As for suggestions, any dlink or linksys wrt54g & wrt54g G/B wireless routers should do the job.
As for me , yes, i do run ,my own custom made ddwrt on a linksys wrt54gs.
And i also use a cisco 1200 series ap.
