SHANGHAI : After a relatively public courtship and marriage to business tycoon Julian Hui, actress Michelle Reis is finally returning to the big screen with a guest appearance in the film “Bodyguards and Assassins”. Directed by Teddy Chan, the former Miss Hong Kong is reportedly being paired up with rumoured ex-boyfriend Leon Lai for the film. However, the pair will not be sharing any love scenes, or any scenes together for that matter. Reis, 39, has not been acting since tying the knot in late 2008 and has reportedly been enjoying life as a married woman, and is also trying to start a family. However, when producer Peter Chan approached her to star in the film, Reis immediately agreed. Filming took place for three months in Shanghai and finally wrapped on Monday. In the film, which is set in ancient China, Reis, plays the role of a ravishing Chinese beauty that inspires a beggar (Leon Lai) to turn his life around and make good. “When I first saw the script for this scene, I just cried, [the character] made me believe that love was able to surpass life and death,” said Reis, who didn’t reveal much more about her character. “A woman who is able to change a man’s life, to let him live with dignity and pride, isn’t the character attractive?” Reis added that life really hasn’t changed much since becoming Mrs Hui, and that her husband is incredibly supportive of her taking up this project. “[My husband] trusts my judgement… He only asked me, who else [is involved in the film]?” said Reis, “I told him there’s Peter [Chan], Leon [Lai], all a bunch of old friends. He said, that’s good, you can talk about the old days together.” "Bodyguards and Assassins" is set for a December release in Singapore. Sources: Channel News Asia
