Fan of Fiona: Shawn says Fiona is a fearless actress.

Think Casanova, and Hong Kong heartthrob, Shawn Yue comes to mind.

Four years ago, he had even publicly declared that he would stop going out with female celebrities to stem the constant slew of reports on his love life.

In the past year alone, the actor has been linked to no less than six women - including female celebrities Gillian Chung, Rainie Yang and Emme Wong.

Said Shawn, 28: 'Rumours have been flying about me and (Taiwanese actress) Rainie Yang, and the reality is we actually have trouble getting along.

'We are both equally stubborn so we hardly talk off-set to avoid creating more friction.'

Shawn, a model turned actor, broke into showbiz eight years ago and has become a household name in Hong Kong cinema with blockbusters such as Infernal Affairs (2003), Initial D (2005) and Dragon Tiger Gate (2006).

In recent reports, he and Rainie were said to have been awkward with each other - supposedly due to their secret dalliances - at the promotional event for their movie, The Child's Eye, in January.

The actor was also named in last year's Edison Chen sex scandal where graphic pictures of Edison having sex with his girlfriends, including Gillian, were leaked online.

At that point, there was speculation that there were pictures of Shawn engaged in a romp with Edison and Gillian. The alleged snaps were never published online.

Then, Shawn quit the movie Butterfly Lovers, shortly after Gillian dropped out from the film. His move was seen as an 'obvious' show of support for his lady love.

When The New Paper asked him about these claims, Shawn laughed. He insisted he had never been confirmed for Butterfly Lovers and accepted another film offer instead.

As for the alleged romp, all he would say was 'show me the pictures'.

In August last year, he was 'spotted' with his Taiwanese flame in Taiwan and subsequently 'seen' hugging a Japanese girl in Japan early this year.

Said Shawn: 'If there were pictures to prove the existence of these women or my acts of indiscretion, I would definitely answer to my fans and the public. But there is always no photographic evidence.'

What about Cantopop singer Emme Wong whom he was supposed to have dated a few years back?

A Hong Kong entertainment magazine had reported last August that Shawn had sent the singer 999 roses.

Shawn said it was 'impossible', as he has never been the 'sentimental, brilliantly creative sort'.

    Raving about Fiona

But he did not hesitate to heap praises on local actress Fiona Xie, his co-star in local director Kelvin Tong's Rule #1.

It'll be shown tomorrow at 9pm on Star Chinese Movies (StarHub Ch 62).

Shawn plays a cop who has to cover up supernatural sightings to convince the public that a paranormal world doesn't exist.

He said: 'She's a fantastic actress who is great at taking direction and she's fearless.

'Many scenes in the movie were extremely tough on her. For example, fake blood was poured on her non-stop, and she never once complained.'

Could Fiona then be his ideal girl?

All the self-professed singleton would say was that he had a soft spot for 'pretty girls'.

Shawn sounded wistful when we asked about his brother's upcoming nuptials which he admitted has got him contemplating his own walk down the aisle.

'My worry is that I won't have time for a wife because of my packed work schedule.

'I have not set myself an age when I have to get hitched but I definitely am longing to get married.'
