Thursday August 24, 2006 Hong Kong The media group "strongly condemned" the pictures shot by tabloid magazine Easy Finder of Gillian Chung, half of successful pop duo Twins, saying they were unethical, unprofessional and a serious invasion of privacy. "We believe media workers should respect the reputation and privacy of people and should not report on the private lives without the person's agreement," it said in a statement. Easy Finder published the pictures of Chung changing costumes backstage during a concert in Malaysia in a front-cover story on Monday, leading to at least 103 complaints to the territory's official media watchdog, the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority. Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology Joseph Wong criticised the local weeklies for increasingly running vulgar stories and photographers, according to the South China Morning Post. He said the government would sek legal action against the magazine in the Obscene Articles Tribunal. Chung's recording company is seeking legal advice.
