can some body show me how to download file from torrent, the problem is I am using the internet with firewall, so I do not know how to get pass the firewall setting.
do you have a router? if so then that's easy. just go into your router setting and open those ports up. if you're direct connected to the net, then look into your windows firewall or defender settings.
agree with Lawplanet, if you're using a router, go to your router and open up the ports for your torrent.
First things first ... - How do you know there is a firewall ? - What kind of firewall is it (e.g. router, software, etc.) ? - Do you have access to reconfigure the firewall ?
in my experience, you don't even have to open up any port for torrenting, but some ppl are saying that is faster,
yeah agree with noasian. i did not open up any port for torrenting and as far as i'm concerned my ports are blocked. but still i can get max speed. try using thunder ( xunlei ) for torrent downloads. it works like a charm for me
Check in your torrent program to see if there is a feature to encrypt the torrent. Also, is it a software or hardware firewall? If it is a firewall built into your router, you might have to search up on port forwarding.
Some companies throttle bittorrent, damn rogers!!!! but yeah portforwarding seems to increase speed for me, i dont think firewall affects it much as long as its port forwarded. Oh just a tip, routers seem to change your IP (the ip given to ur computer by the router) so you might want to do a static IP to ensure that the port is always open to the IP u have on the computer.
I perfer to keep the firwall and antivirus on while D/L torrent, just in case of attack. I also use PeerGuardian. These progammes will slow D/L, it is better save than sorry.
why is everyone so afraid of virus? they would only do harm if u are afraid, just reformat your computer; always create an image of your computer in the good running state; also if you are really afraid, you shouldn't even be torrenting and NOT open up any ports as that will open up for the intruders out there; and the firewall in windows is flawed anyway, is there and you "think" you are safe;
I tried everything I could to bypass the firewall stuff. but honestly, nothing worked, I even tried portforward etc, but it didn't seem to help at all. Anyway in the end I just changed the allowed number of connections to as much as possible (100, but it never reaches that many anyway). ------------ Your downloading speed may also be affected by your internet service provider, because they will throttle you to an extent. example: comparing download speeds from different ISPs - home connection maxes at about 170kb/s (which makes sense, since my connection is supposed to be about 1.5Mbps) - school's connection goes to +400kb/s and beyond.
You're right, providing someone is dumb enough to download blatantly false torrents. Its funny how people don't have enough common sense to determine if a torrent is good or bad.
if u change the max connections, sometimes it will work, sometimes, it will greatly slow down your computer's internet access and you can feel the difference;
if one practice safe procedure after downloading, i doubt one could get virus easily. 1) Ensure all antivirus are updated everyday, scan before opening any d/l file. 2) Knowing what your downloading 3) Putting port to exclusion doesnt mean that the port is not monitor by your a/v. It will still be monitor by its behavior. 4) Downloading cracks etc is by your own risk and responsibility. I doubt u can get virus by downloading movie from the link here.
