when i ask a girl out i just say "hey what you doing sunday( or any day) we could go watch a movie (or whatever u wanna do). I guess is more friendly than just plain "hey baby lets go dinner tonight" good luck.

Because i've had a friend confess to me after many years, and i shot him down
and things have been weird between us ever since

I think you need to take a more slowly sliding in approach
two other friends tried with me
one i shot down, but because it was so slow, and i basically said, hey back off, we're not suited to being lovers, but just friends, we were able to go back to being friends right away

but the other guy, i gave him a chance, and that relationship held quite strong for a long time




I guess i can see your situation going both in a positive and in a negative

by advice is not to SHOCK the person, cause that could have bad aftermath results

well if your not afraid to lose a great friendship then take a shot (you never know what happens until you try right?) but if not i wouldnt recommend it

 

just ask for a date first, call her out casually. then see if shes interested or not and decide from there.

I agree with smallrinilady, don't shock the person, i've had once or twice came on too strong unexpectantly and it went awkward. But funny thing is we are still friends, and the other one i eventually went out with for a short time...but she was still shocked at first haha

you can try giving small hints, and see how she reacts to you. If you acts closer or more "special" towards you than other guys maybe she likes you too.

I think you should take it slow a bit, if you don't want her to be too shocked ^^
