    How to factor this formula?
I have to use sigma notation to factor this.

    x^(4n) - 1

    Please show steps.
    Thank you very much.

By the way, the answer is:
    (x-1) (x+1) [x^(2)+ 1] Sigma[(n-1) / (k=0)] x^(4k)
